Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery
Station F3
The clinic specialises in the treatment of complex injuries and the reconstruction of bone fractures that have already occurred. Infected bone fractures, which require particularly intensive and precise medical care, are especially challenging. Our focus is on interprofessional collaboration. In cases of infected fractures, we work closely with our nursing specialists for wound management and pharmacists for antibiotic therapies in order to promote healing and minimise possible complications. We also treat malalignments and axial defects that may have occurred after initial fracture treatment, using the latest surgical techniques.
Our nursing staff play a central role in this demanding healing process. They not only take care of the acute care of patients after the operation, but also the long-term aftercare, which can often take several months. This includes wound management, the treatment of infections and pain management, which is individually tailored to the needs of each patient. The nursing staff ensure that all patients are provided with the information and aids they need to regain their mobility step by step. They accompany the patients with a great deal of empathy and professional expertise and support them in early mobilisation, which is crucial for recovery.
