Nursing is much more than a profession - it is a vocation, a responsibility and a daily commitment to other people. At Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), we see nursing as a central element of our medical and human care. That is why we offer our nursing staff not only recognition, but also real, tangible development prospects.
Individual paths, common goal. Quality in nursing care
Nursing means closeness, responsibility and expertise. At UKHD, we support you in following your individual path in nursing - with clear development prospects that match your goals and strengths.
Whether you are just starting out, want to specialise or pass on your experience - we offer you structured qualification paths, targeted personnel development and a comprehensive range of further and advanced training. The compatibility of career and family is also a key concern for us.
Shape nursing with us - responsible and future-orientated
Anyone who works for us becomes part of a strong team that stands for quality, humanity and further development. Because nursing is not just our job - it is our common path.
Start your journey at UKHD - we look forward to meeting you.
Entry into highly specialised nursing areas requires not only specialist knowledge, but also confidence in practical work and personal orientation. With our trainee programme at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), we provide new nursing staff with targeted support on this path - structured, individual and practical.
What does this mean?
The trainee programme is aimed at new colleagues who are starting out in particularly demanding areas - for example in the internal intensive care centre, on the general haematology ward or in the paediatric clinic. The programme has a modular structure, runs for around twelve months and allows flexible entry throughout the year.
Grow professionally - arrive personally
The programme combines structured induction with targeted training, workshops, specialist seminars and work shadowing. You rotate through various units in your specialist area, systematically expanding your knowledge and developing important soft skills. Experienced nursing staff will provide you with close support - as contact persons and mentors.
A programme that strengthens you
Our aim is to comprehensively prepare you for your new role in the team - professionally sound, personally supported and with a view to a long-term perspective in nursing. This is how we shape the nursing care of the future together - competently, humanely and sustainably.
We actively support you on your career path - individualised, structured and with your personal goals in mind. Whether in clinical practice, specialisation or on the path to academisation: as a university hospital, we support you in your career planning - always in the interests of excellent patient care and with the aim of being an attractive employer that lives the profession of nursing with pride.
Our personnel development is geared towards the strategic goals of the nursing management, the centre and your individual development opportunities.
Through the Academy for Healthcare Professions, we specifically promote further and advanced training, offer prospects for professional specialisation and open up opportunities for lifelong learning.
... because your development is our joint strength!
