Clinic for Paraplegiology - Ward P1

The Department of Paraplegiology at Heidelberg University Hospital is an internationally recognised centre specialising in the inpatient and outpatient treatment of patients with spinal cord injuries.

Our nursing care guarantees comprehensive, individualised care and support for people with paraplegia caused by accident or illness at the highest medical and nursing level. Our focus is on further developing existing therapeutic approaches and devising new, innovative treatment methods that sustainably improve patients' quality of life and independence. In nursing care, we prioritise both medical care and personal support. We accompany our patients on their journey to maintain or regain their mobility and offer targeted help in dealing with everyday challenges. We work hand in hand in an interprofessional team (e.g. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, clinical social work, psychologists, speech therapy) to ensure optimal care. Our nursing staff specialise in motivating patients, promoting their independence and supporting them in their quality of life - both during their stay in hospital and beyond.

We see ourselves as empathetic companions on the path to greater independence and enjoyment of life.
