Accessibility
Accessibility statement
This statement applies to the website www.pflege-ukhd.de, including its English version.
This website is provided by Heidelberg University Hospital (Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg), an institution under public law, Nursing Directorate, Im Neuenheimer Feld 672, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.
We aim to make this website accessible to everyone. The applicable requirements are set out in Section 10(1) of the Baden-Württemberg State Disability Equality Act (L-BGG), including the requirements of the German Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) incorporated by reference.
1. Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the requirements set out above. The non-compliances are listed in section 2.
2. Non-accessible content
The test on 7 October 2026 found the following limitations:
- Some text does not have sufficient contrast against its background.
- Page regions such as the navigation and the main content are not consistently marked up. Screen reader users therefore cannot always skip repeated sections.
- Some input and selection fields do not have a clear label.
- Some controls and links do not have a meaningful name for screen readers. For example, arrow links next to events are only labelled “Arrow right”.
- The structure of some content is not fully marked up.
- Not all controls can be fully operated using a keyboard. The expanded menu does not close with the Escape key, and after closing it, focus does not return to the menu button.
- Information in German Sign Language is not yet available.
The previous statement of June 2023 also lists the following limitations. As of 7 October 2026, we have not yet re-tested whether they still exist:
- Not all graphics and images have a text description.
- Embedded videos do not always have subtitles or transcripts.
- For some links, the destination is not clear from the link text.
- Filters in sub-levels of the navigation cannot always be operated using a keyboard.
- Not all downloadable documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are accessible.
We are working to fix these issues.
3. Preparation and review
This statement was newly prepared on 7 October 2026. It replaces the version of 16 June 2023.
It is based on a self-assessment carried out on 7 October 2026: the German home page was tested automatically against WCAG 2.2, level AA, using the Stark testing tool. In addition, keyboard operation of the menu and selected labels and headings were checked in a desktop browser.
The assessment does not cover all requirements of the European standard EN 301 549. In particular, further subpages and the English version, form processes, the mobile view, documents and media, and use with screen readers were not tested comprehensively.
We review and update this statement every year and whenever the website changes significantly.
