Orthopaedic Oncology and Septic Orthopaedic Surgery Section

Station F2

On our orthopaedic oncology and septic ward in the Department of Orthopaedics, we treat patients with complex and sometimes serious diseases of the musculoskeletal system. These include malignant tumour diseases such as soft tissue sarcomas, osteosarcomas, chondrosarcomas, Ewing sarcomas and metastases, as well as benign bone tumours. Another focus is on the treatment of septic clinical pictures, including joint infections, infections of endoprostheses and extensive soft tissue infections.

Nursing for this group of patients requires not only sound specialist knowledge, but also a high degree of empathy, sensitivity and psychological sensitivity. Our nursing team provides holistic care for patients - from pre-operative preparation and post-operative care through to pain therapy, wound management and mobilisation. Through close interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, we create an environment in which patients feel safe, respected and supported despite their serious illness. For us, people take centre stage - with all their needs, fears and hopes.
