The general vascular surgery ward
Professional excellence combined with human attention
On our general vascular surgery ward, we care for patients before and after open and endovascular procedures on the vascular system. Our specialised team ensures comprehensive medical and nursing care in close cooperation with the surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic departments, from the initial consultation to comprehensive aftercare.
Our work focuses on diseases of the aortic vessels, such as stenoses (narrowing), occlusions and aneurysms (bulging of the vessel wall). Using modern treatment methods - open surgery or minimally invasive - and structured aftercare, we ensure safety and the best possible recovery.
Our aim is to provide individualised, competent care in every phase of the inpatient stay - from admission, through surgery, to discharge.
A particular focus is on nursing care, especially in the following areas:
- Modern wound care, with a focus on chronic and hard-to-heal wounds
- Compression therapy, supported by pneumatic compression systems
- Post-amputation care, together with physiotherapy, social services and other specialist disciplines - because for us, rehabilitation begins in hospital
We have been certified as a wound centre according to ICW(Initiative Chronische Wunden e.V.) since 2020 We regularly offer internal training courses on wound care, compression and specialised nursing topics and actively support the professional development of our employees.
All colleagues receive a basic kinaesthetics course to support patients in their mobility in a resource-friendly and safe manner. Our trainees receive intensive support from experienced practical instructors and are encouraged on their way into the profession. They also have the opportunity to shadow in other specialist areas to gain insights beyond their own field of work.
We regularly welcome interns who are training to become wound experts ICW or wound therapists ICW to join our team for a limited period of time and benefit from our expertise.
Our ward combines professional excellence with human care - for the best possible care and a strong interprofessional team.
