Interdisciplinary Emergency Department (INA) at the UKHD
Care around the clock
In our Emergency Department of the Department of Surgery and Department of Anaesthesiology as well as the Internal Emergency Department and Chest Pain Unit, we offer comprehensive care for patients in acute situations. Our dedicated interprofessional team, consisting of experienced doctors, nurses, medical assistants and care assistants, works hand in hand with state-of-the-art infrastructure - including emergency treatment rooms, shock rooms, operating theatres and cardiac catheters - to ensure continuous care 365 days a year.
All patients are registered centrally on arrival and undergo an initial assessment. This makes it possible to quickly assess the urgency of acute situations and prioritise patient care accordingly.
We treat a large number of emergencies from the specialist areas of general, visceral, vascular and trauma surgery, urology, internal medicine and the chest pain unit.
We work closely with the Orthopaedic University Clinic in the event of accidents at work, traffic accidents or accidents on the way to work in order to guarantee fast and competent help.
Our day clinic has 11 beds and is used on an interdisciplinary basis by all surgical specialities. Here, we primarily care for pre- and post-operative patients who have undergone outpatient surgery or invasive radiological interventions. The equipment in the day clinic is specially designed for optimal post-operative care to ensure the best possible care in every situation.
There is also an observation ward with 6 beds within the day clinic, which is intended for emergency patients who are temporarily awaiting hospitalisation or require short-term monitoring.
The INA's interdisciplinary team ensures that all patients receive expert care around the clock!
