General wards of the surgical centre at the UKHD

NURSING as an important pillar of patient care

Our general wards are an indispensable pillar of patient care at our surgical clinic. Here we offer comprehensive care for patients suffering from a wide range of conditions. Our team works on an interdisciplinary basis, combining a high level of nursing and medical expertise with a deep understanding of humanity and team spirit.

What particularly characterises us is the high level of decision-making authority that we nurses enjoy. We are key players within the interdisciplinary team and work closely with other professional groups on an equal footing. This not only promotes the exchange of ideas and perspectives, but also strengthens team cohesion and improves the quality of patient care.

Diversity is very important to us. We actively embrace this diversity and work across disciplines to ensure holistic care for our patients. Respectful and personal interaction with one another is not just an ideal for us, but a lived practice. However, our day-to-day care on the ward is not just about applying nursing, medical and technical skills. Rather, we are also able to take into account the emotional and interpersonal aspects that are crucial to the well-being of our patients. Every day, we experience first-hand how our work has a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families and gives them support in difficult times.

Our general wards offer an exciting and collegiate working environment that is rich in varied development opportunities. We are also a training centre for future nursing staff, medical students and physiotherapists. We take this responsibility seriously, because by promoting innovation in nursing, we create the basis for sustainable and future-proof healthcare.

Our wards are equipped to the highest standards: they are uniformly furnished and equipped with the latest medical technology, which enables us to provide our patients with the best possible care. We see ourselves as role models in the multi-professional team and actively contribute to shaping not only our daily working atmosphere, but also that of all employees and patients. In this way, we influence behaviour in our clinic and create an environment characterised by mutual respect and support.

We are proud to be a team characterised by a variety of different backgrounds, expertise and experiences. This diversity enriches our work and helps us to find innovative solutions together to help our patients in the best possible way. In this dynamic environment, we not only feel challenged as professionals, but also as people who can make a significant contribution to the health and quality of life of our fellow human beings.
