Dermatological surgery
Minor outpatient and inpatient operations
Minor outpatient and inpatient operations are performed in the dermatological operating theatre. These include excision and sampling of various skin tumours, vein operations, mole removal, wound debridements, abscesses and aesthetic procedures. For major dermatological procedures that have to be performed under general anaesthetic, the central operating theatre of the Women's, Skin and Paediatric Clinic has the necessary capacity.
The main focus of nursing care in the dermatological operating theatre is the preparation and follow-up of the operating theatres, including operating procedures, surgical assistance, instrument and preparation supply and any allocation of follow-up appointments. The preparation and aftercare of patients is also at the centre of our nursing activities. This also includes instructing patients on how to change dressings or administer s.c. injections.
