Welcome to our nephrology general ward - it's about more than "just" kidneys. With 42 beds, we are ideally equipped to provide sophisticated and varied nursing.

Our focus? To support people before and after a kidney transplant - professionally competent, but also with heart and soul. We care for patients at all stages of renal insufficiency, look after autoimmune diseases with kidney involvement and nephrological-oncological clinical pictures. Sounds versatile? It is too!

What makes us special is our team: a healthy mix of experienced colleagues and new faces with new ideas. We work closely together, support each other and tackle things together - without an elbow mentality.

Our Kidney Centre has been an integral part of Heidelberg University Hospital's Centre for Internal Medicine since 1 January 2025. Previously, we were independent - which is why we currently have our own homepage with lots more information about our work, specialisations and the team.
