The ZPM ensures smooth coordination of patient procedures in the hospital and acts as a central point of contact for patients, attending physicians (both internal and external), co-treaters, the nursing service and the diagnostic departments. Necessary examinations and measures that are required before an inpatient admission and/or an operation are organised in advance by the ZPM as far as possible. This can often significantly reduce the length of the patient's stay.
